 2016 Preview 


       Last year Sipsey Valley finished sixth in Class 4A region 4 with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Sipsey Valley has gone a combined 17-45. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 55th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Sipsey Valley has not won much with a record of 17-45. Their 27.0% winning percentage ranks 58th in Class 4A and 358th in the AHSAA.

       The Bears are led by head coach Antonio Ford who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-35 over the past five seasons at Sipsey Valley. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Ford.

       Coach Ford's overall record as a head football coach in five seasons stands at 17-35 (32.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Ford's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

      

      The Sipsey Valley Bears will play in Class 4A region 4 during the 2016 season.

       This season, the Bears will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 4.

       The Bears open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Winfield on Thursday, August 18 at Estes Hudson Stadium. Last year the Winfield Pirates finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 3A region 5. The Pirates lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Colbert County by a score of 26-20.

       Sipsey Valley and Winfield have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bears have a 0-2-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2016 with Winfield winning by a score of 40-15.
